Our Beginner Yoga Classes

The Beginner level yoga classes are for everyone and every BODY!  No experience or flexibility is required and the use of props (blankets, blocks, staps, chairs, yoga ropes, etc) in our classes make yoga accessible to everyone!  Most students have some form of injury or illness so classes are taught with this in mind and are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. These classes are also suitable for our pre-natal and post-natal students who will be guided accordingly. Students can be assured that once they start with Body Yoga they will be amazed at how great they feel even after their first class!

On a physical level, yoga is the practice of various poses; known as asanas, which improve strength, muscle tone and flexibility.  Combined with the use of yogic breathing, the practice also works at calming the nervous system and this is where many health benefits are gained.  Body Yoga is a moving meditation.

Classes at Body Yoga are taught from the heart in a relaxed and caring manner where the needs of every student are paramount.  Students are encouraged to find “their yoga” – that which feels good for their unique body and stage of life.  Body Yoga provides a safe and non-judgemental environment for students to explore their body and mind to whatever extent they choose.  There are no expectations, just guidance, integrity and a nurturing space for all to take that necessary “time out” for self.  Above all else, at Body Yoga we explore the depths of ourselves whilst always having some fun along the way!

The regular practice of yoga:

  • Improves core strength, flexibility, muscle tone and body awareness
  • Alleviates back, neck and shoulder pain
  • Calms and stills the mind through the use of the breath
  • De-stresses the nervous system so is beneficial for those suffering anxiety, chronic fatigue and depression
  • Restores the body’s energy
  • Can assist with weight loss
  • Can facilitate the recovery of injuries and illness and is suitable for everyone to do regardless of age or state of health
